Gender or Sex Change Before the Age of 18
My Fellow Americans as a congressional candidate, I do not support changing gender or sex prior to the age of 18. This decision is based on several important points, including the harm that it can cause to our children, the fact that children are not mature enough to make such life-altering decisions before the age of 19, and the importance of allowing children to make their own decisions rather than having their parents make these decisions for them.
First and foremost, it is crucial to acknowledge the harm that can be caused by changing a child's gender or sex before the age of 18. Such decisions can lead to a wide range of negative outcomes, including depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Additionally, it is important to recognize that many children who undergo gender or sex changes at a young age may later regret these decisions and suffer from long-term psychological and emotional distress.
Furthermore, it is important to consider the fact that children are simply not mature enough to make such life-altering decisions before the age of 19. In the United States, children must be at least 16 years old to obtain a driver's license, and they are not considered mature enough to testify in court until the age of 18. These age restrictions exist for a reason: they reflect the fact that children's brains are still developing and that they may not be equipped to make decisions that will have long-term consequences.
By allowing children to make decisions about changing their gender or sex prior to the age of 18, we are essentially entrusting them with a responsibility that they may not be ready for. This can have disastrous consequences for their mental and emotional well-being, and can cause long-lasting damage to their sense of self and identity.
Moreover, it is crucial to allow children to make their own decisions about their bodies, rather than allowing their parents to make these decisions for them. Parents may have the best of intentions, but they are not always equipped to make decisions that will be in their children's best interests. By giving children the autonomy to make decisions about their own bodies, we are empowering them to take ownership of their own lives and to make choices that will truly reflect their own values and desires.
In conclusion, as an American congressional candidate, I do not support changing gender or sex prior to the age of 18. This decision is based on a number of important factors, including the harm that it can cause to our children, the fact that children are not mature enough to make such decisions before the age of 19, and the importance of allowing children to make their own decisions about their bodies. By taking a cautious and thoughtful approach to this issue, we can help to ensure that our children are able to grow up healthy, happy, and free to make their own choices.
